Pastoral Leadership
Pastor Ronald Ens and Cindy Ens met at Conquerors Bible College, Portland, Oregon in 1971. They married in 1973 and, upon graduation, assisted in Marion, Indiana where their son Anthony was born. They then assisted Rev. Raymond Sirstad in Calgary. During this time, they welcomed their daughter Rachelle into the family. They then moved to Prince George and in the fall of 1977 assumed the pastorate of Lighthouse Pentecostal Church which they pastored for 23 years. In 2001 they accepted the pastorate of the World of Pentecost Church in Nanaimo, B.C. December 2023 will mark their transition from full time pastor to Bishop or Elder
They have children, grandchildren and great grandchildren in Vancouver B.C. and Sarasota FL where their children and spouses Pastor, and plan on spending significant time in both places.
Pastor Elect
Associate Pastor Nathan and Kristen Shew have been raised in the World of Pentecost Church of Nanaimo and are the proud parents of three children. They have been actively involved in youth work and Sunday School ministry most of their lives. Nathan has served in both youth and Sunday school departments in the B.C. District of the UPCI. Currently Nathan oversees the Youth and Sunday school departments of the local Church. They assume the full-time duties of Pastor of the congregation starting in December of 2023
Associate Pastor
Associate Pastor Dave and Joy Cutar are the parents of two daughters and came to WOPC in 2020 from Manilla. They are heavily involved in leading Multi- Cultural aspects of the church as well as overseeing home groups and outreach efforts. He has extensive experience in teaching Bible School, preaching at Conferences etc., online training, and music ministry. Sis. Joy has been involved in missions as well. Our desire in bringing them on as part of our team was to reach across cultural barriers to every nationality.
Music & Media Director
Anthony & Melissa have been involved in music since their teens. Anthony grew up playing the piano. He played at weddings and played percussion in school, but he didn’t start playing in church right away. He started playing in church at about 15 years old and has now been playing in various churches and at various church events for over 15 years. Melissa grew up singing in church and has been singing as part of chorals, choirs and worship teams since she was 15 years old. One of Anthony’s favorite quotes is from Matt Redman who said, “In the end, worship can never be a performance, something you’re pretending or putting on. It’s got to be overflow of your heart…..Worship is about getting personal with God, drawing close to God.” Along with the music department Anthony & Melissa take care of the Media & Sound departments. Anthony is also the assistant to the pastor.
Church Administrator
Heather started going to church at a young age with her sister and extended family in Mt. Vernon, Ohio. She quickly found that she wanted to deepen her own relationship with the Lord and decided to attend Bible College. During her educational journey she met Samantha and through Samantha met her husband, Ryan. After getting married in December of 2010 they moved to Nanaimo. She’s always been organized and since moving to Nanaimo has been helping with the administration duties at the church. In 2015 Heather accepted the position of full time Church Administrator. Heather not only does admin work for the local church she also does admin work for the UPC of BC.
